Billy Bragg the great English singer songwriter performed at the Commodore Ballroom last weekend and was exactly what I expected , funny , political , and totally entertaining.

No one writes politically charged songs better than Billy, except for maybe Steve Earle . And his love songs ring so true that anyone can relate to them.Throw in a few rants between songs and you have a great night.

Very large , 5 - 6 in. across , very poisonous or very psychoactive depending on who you talk to. They are not rare but I haven't seen a lot of them till last week when I came across this field that was lined with Pine trees and these Amanitas seemed to be coming up everywhere beneath the trees.

Near Hope B.C.

Home of the Othello Tunnels also called the Quintette Tunnels , because there are 5 of them , which were part of the old Kettle Valley Railroad system . Built in the early 1900's the railway starts near Hope and goes up through the interior of the Province. It was abandoned in the 50's and now has mostly been turned into some of the best bicycle path /trails anywhere, featuring these amazing tunnels , blasted through the solid granite walls of the Canyon with the River roaring below, and further up the Amazing trestles of Myra Canyon , which were lost in the wild fires of 2003 but now have been restored.

The Great Folk Roots Americana , Singer , Songwriter Tom Russell paid our a city a visit a couple of weeks back and was outstanding as usual.

Tom started his Singing , Songwriting career right here in Vancouver. I think he has a special place in his heart for Vancouver as he plays here at least once a year. I must have seen him 10 or 12 times and have never been disappointed.
